Great place to shop for household needs food beer and flowers as long as don't mind spending few Xtra.
I normally do not shop Giant Eagle stores because they seem to be much more expensive than other grocery stores, & my experience in the store in HermitagePA(the closest one to my previous neighborhood) was very bad(the cashier was appropriately curtious to ME, BUT, when the woman behind me paid with food stamps, she was treated with a very snobby, condescending manner).
Yesterday, I had to pick up a few items quickly and this particular Giant Eagle was closest to my destination. The store was very clean, neatly organized, and, when I questioned an employee to direct me to where I might find a phone charger cord, was very politely directed to the front of the store. Apparently the woman at the customer service desk noticed me having difficulty finding what I needed, pointed me in the correct direction, and offered to ring me out at the customer service register so that I wouldn't have to go stand in the long lines at the other registers. She was kind, friendly, and helpful when she def didn't HAVE to be. I was in a rush and very much appreciated the speedy checkout. I am still taking off a star for their pricing: I ended up paying $.49/ea for limes that I usually get for $1.99/bag of 8 at my regular grocery store near my home(It wouldn't have made any difference in my total if I had A Giant Eagle discount card)
Prices are average/slightly higher. Bakery is good. Usually a wait to check out. Can get beer here.
Has every cooking need I have in one place. Hot food bar is great for getting a quick family meal in a pinch!
I will never be returning to giant eagle ever. This was the worst shopping experience of my entire life. First of all, you can't even purchase anything without a giant eagle card, at least at the self checkout (which is the ONLY option). Then, once you call a bunch of friends to get a card number, you have to wait at least a 3 minutes before you can scan an item. Once you scan that item it has to go over the longest conveyor belt in history complete with plastic sides to keep you from touching the items (?). HOWEVER, should the item you scan, in my case it was A SINGLE CANDY BAR, not make it over the small bump in the conveybelt (you know because the mass and velocity of the candy bar is not quite great enough to overcome the such a hurdle) the system freaks out and won't let you touch anything until the already stressed and overworked self checkout monitor can make her way over to clear your transactions. Mind you, this whole process happened to me THREE TIMES. I'll spare you all the final details, but the point is that I hate giant eagle, always have always will.
